Since our last communication in mid summer, we are happy to report that…
all of the new outside signs have been completed and are in place (thanks to one of our generous members).
a beautiful new brick sidewalk now connects the back steps around the summer kitchen to the outhouse (thanks to an Eagle Scout project from Saline).
we had a very successful Quilt Show/Luncheon on Aug. 16th with approxi- mately 75 women attending
we had coverage in a national publication – the Sept. issue of Victoria magazine, as well as an article in Michigan History magazine in July.
we were awarded a $3000. grant from the Greater Milan Area Community Foundation to be used for the installation of a new boiler on our antiquated heating system at the Hack House.
we had a wonderful picnic on the lawn in mid August with approx. 60 people attending.
we’ve managed to have the Hack House open every Sunday afternoon since the first of May, and have had 240 people visit the house.
the last of the 3 rotten porches has now been torn off and replaced – and hopefully will be painted before the cold weather sets in.
